| ABSTRACT The production of hybrids of the 'pintado', Pseudoplatystoma corruscans (Spix & Agassiz, 1829) and 'cachara', Pseudoplatystoma reticulatum (Eigenmann & Eigenmann, 1889) in captivity has generated many concerns about the possibility of introduction of farmed hybrids into natural environments. In the last decade, hybrids between these species, known as 'pintachara' or 'cachapinta', were reported from different regions of the Upper Paraná River basin. Prospection of these hybrids is important in order to orient conservation programs for the species involved. | Resumo Kalipharynx piramboae gen. e sp. n. (Trematoda: Fellodistomidae) é descrito do peixe pulmonado Amazônico chamado piramboia, Lepidosiren paradoxa (Dipnoi: Lepidosirenidae). O novo gênero distingue-se dos demais gêneros da família por apresentar uma faringe musculosa com projeções digitiformes anteriores. Entre os gêneros desta família, Kalipharynx assemelha-se mais com Heterorchis Baylis, 1915, do qual, além da faringe, se distingue por ter: 1) Um acetábulo maior; 2) Um poro excretor pequeno e terminal; 3) Uma vesícula seminal sacular não bipartida; e 4) Um hospedeiro de diferente gênero e continente. K. piramboae é o primeiro trematódeo adulto citado em L. paradoxa. |

| ABSTRACT Biotodomella gen. nov. (Monogenoidea: Dactylogyridae) is proposed to accommodate Biotodomella mirospinata sp. nov., found on the gills of Biotodoma cupido (Heckel, 1840) (“cara bonita” or “green-streaked eartheater”), a freshwater cichlid from the Peruvian Amazon. The new genus and species differ from other Neotropical dactylogyrids in having the hooks of each hook pair well-differentiated from the remaining pairs, shafts varying in robustness, weakly sclerotized expansions at the proximal end of shaft, and a dorsal anchor with grooved shaft, bifid point. This study represents the first record of a monogenoid from a species of Biotodoma Eigenmann & Kennedy, 1903. |

| Resumo É descrita a patologia de Ergasilus, Brasergasilus e Acusicola (Crustacea: Cyclopoida: Ergasilidae) em peixes amazônicos. Esses ergasilídeos provocam hiperplasia e metaplasia epitelial e também fusão e destruição lemelar nos filamentos branquiais dos seus respectivos hospedeiros. O dano causado por Ergasilus varia consideravelmente, dependendo da espécie. Os outros dois gêneros são mais patogênicos ainda. As variações na patologia entre os três gêneros são principalmente relacionadas às diferentes maneiras de fixação que utilizam. | ABSTRACT Ergasilus von Nordmann, 1832 is the type and the most speciose genus of Ergasilidae, with more than 150 valid species. The first species of this genus, Ergasilus iheringi Tidd, 1942, was described from the Neotropical Region, from the gills of Hoplias malabaricus (Bloch, 1794). Since then, 35 new species of Ergasilidae have been described from the Neotropics. However, a reanalysis of the available type specimens of E. iheringi revealed features that suggest that it represents a lineage independent from Ergasilus. | Foram realizadas coletas nos principais corpos hídricos do Paraná objetivando a prospecção de larvas do mexilhão dourado, Limnoperna fortunei (Dunker, 1857). Essa espécie de molusco vem colonizando diversos corpos hídricos na América do Sul desde sua introdução na Argentina, em 1991. Já atingiu os rios Paraná e Paraguai, tendo sua presença reportada nos estados do Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, São Paulo, Minas Gerais e Rio Grande do Sul. | ABSTRACT A new genus and species of Monogenoidea, Susanlimae ianwhittingtoni gen. nov., sp. nov., are proposed for dactylogyrids collected from the "Nuayang tipis", Pseudeutropius moolenburghae Weber & de Beaufort, 1913, which inhabits freshwater in Sumatra. While clearly a member of a putative clade that includes Asian and African catfish parasites, S. ianwhittingtoni sp. nov. differs from most members of this clade by having a bifurcated haptor that embraces the gill rakers of its host. | ABSTRACT Brasergasilus jaraquensis gen. et sp. nov. and B. anodus sp. nov. (Copepoda: Cyclopidea: Ergasilidae), gill parasites of Semaprochiiodus insignis (Schomburgk) and Anodus elongatus Spix, are described from the Amazon River. The new genus has only three pairs of swimming legs and in this respect is similar only to one species from New Zealand, Abergasilus amplexus Hewitt, 1978. The two genera also have in common a three-segmented prehensile antenna. Abergasilus, however, has the base of the second antennal segment developed into a massive spine which abutts against the claw-like third segment.
